Day 6

For today’s post I’m going to keep is very brief and let the pictures do the talking. The ride in the morning from Seccla was wet, but absolutely spectacular. We rode for two hours on a single lane paved road that peaked at almost 15,000 feet and would rival the best that the alps have to offer with the added benefit of there being little or no traffic.

At noon we stopped in the town of Lircay, where we had a nice lunch in the warm sunshine, a welcome relief after the wet and cold that we’d ridden through in the morning.

After lunch we continued on for another 2.5-3 hours to Huancavelica. Along the way we encountered a remarkable scene of a family guiding their heard of sheep up an incredibly steep and treacherous trail, which I did my best to capture in photos. Ultimately, we arrived in Huancavelica at around 4:00. We found ourselves a very nice hotel to stay in and made the call to take a rest day here tomorrow before continuing our journey.

We hope everyone is well and thanks again for following and for your comments.

83 miles in roughly 5.5 hours…

The gallery below consists of a series of images taken during our morning ride. I hope they do justice to the spectacular scenery (and the spectacular road).

The gallery below is a collection of images I took as we arrived in the city of Lircay

This last slideshow is my best attempt to capture the scene we encountered during the afternoon portion of our ride.

    1. Jimmy… thanks for following the trip. Regarding photo’s of locals, I need to take more of them and less of motorcycles and roads :). Had a day off today and so feeling refreshed and ready for our next stage. All the best to you and yours

  3. Hi Freddy,
Great journaling! You really have the storytelling down. The ride looks amazing. It appears to be not be too difficult, just lots of long straightaways between switchbacks. It does not look like many tourists in these towns.

    1. Thanks Bill… as to the difficulty it’s a bit more than ‘long straightaways between switchbacks’. Am afraid the video’s don’t do full justice. In any case, the riding is truly extraordinary… both the dirt sections and the pavement. And, ‘yes’ you are correct, there are very few tourists where we’ve been… simply too far removed.
